Jumbo Mall on Venezuela’s Isla Margarita
July 06, 1999
Not long ago a group from Isla Margarita (also known as a popular duty free zone) had a dream of building a state-of-the-art shopping mall on the island. The vision was to build a mall that would be the only one of its kind in the Caribbean.
And with a simple yet elegant architectural design, highlighted with exterior illumination, as well as access to some 180 stores from well known designers such as Cartier, Channel, Rolex, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, and many more, they seem to have succeeded.
One of Jumbo Mall´s biggest attractions is the giant aquarium full of a great variety of exotic fish from all over the world. The Mall also houses a state-of-the-art movie theater as well as a luxurious Vegas style casino.
Renato Elia, the Italian born owner, along with his wife, Rafael, and architect Nilson Da Silva were the brains behind the Jumbo Mall project.
Renato made it clear that he wanted to install the latest technology provided by the top-of-the-line suppliers. As far as lighting systems, he opted for the Martin Exterior 600 to illuminate the spacatto facade of the entire Mall.
The Grand Opening of this magnificent gem of the Caribbean, held last March, was a success due to the support and follow-up from start to finish by Buby Sinibaldi, Martin’s Managing Director of Latin American & Southern European Operations.
Also, Audio Concept, Martin’s Distributor in Venezuela, played an important role as part of the Martin team with their technical support and service of Jumbo´s lighting system installation.
