For over four decades, Neil Sedaka's timeless standards have helped change the face of popular music. With countless hit singles, and platinum and gold records, he is recognized as one of rock and pop music's legendary pioneers.

On Friday, April 7, 2006, Neil performed at London's Royal Albert Hall (RAH), which was filmed for a worldwide DVD release.

Ollie Jeffery, Technical Show Manager at the Albert Hall explained the production, “We were originally asked by Neil Sedaka’s production team to provide a three color wash and a special for the piano. We developed from a three color wash to a comprehensive lighting rig using a mixture of generic and moving lights.”

They felt that the best light to give good images on the backdrop would be the new MAC 700 Profiles which were supplied by White Light. Its variety of gobos and animation wheel was a big advantage and they also wanted to see how silent it was.

Ollie talks about the MAC 700 Profiles, “We decided to place the MAC 700s on the floor to enable us to create gobo effects on the white drapes hung as a back drop. The production team had made it clear that the lighting must not in any way affect the show even though the DVD was important to them. The silent operation of the MAC 700 allowed us to do this effectively and there were no complaints from the artist.”

The MAC 700 Profiles fitted in well with a basic set. Ollie explained, “As we hadn’t seen the show this was very much a different look show for each piece and the varied variety of gobos allowed us to do this effectively.”

All lights were operated by lighting designer Richard Thomas. Richard commented, “The MAC 700 Profile was exceptionally bright for the compact size, the color mixing worked really well. For Neil’s concert subtle gobo and color looks were used to light the scenery to great effect.” Other automated and LED lights were also used, all supplied by White Light.
