Martin and HSL light up Creamfields

October 11, 2006

The time came when the finale to the Summer, the unmissable, indomitable Creamfields finally arrived. This years show which was held on August Bank Holiday Weekend took place at its new home at Daresbury Estate, Cheshire. Top features included The Prodigy, The Zutons and Goldfrapp. Creamfields is a proven beacon for the modern day dance festival and winner of ‘Best Dance Festival’ for the two consecutive seasons in the UK Festival Awards.

HSL was brought in to supply lighting for all seven venues including the main stage for the 4th year. Festival lighting Designer was Steve Abbiss who was given the brief to supply a unique design in each one of the venues. Martin lights were prevalent in five of the stages, Tidy, Chibuku, Beatdown, Subliminal and Audio Deluxe with Martin Atomic Strobes being used in all venues including the Main Stage

A healthy number of MAC 500s and MAC 600s dominated four of the stages that were using Martin lighting. Mike Oats from HSL commented, “We used MAC 500s and MAC 600s just because we knew they work and work and work, they get a good thrashing on Creamfields with 16 hours of constant use..... and with the 150 fixtures used across the site they still worked in the morning.”

Mike Oats explained further about the reasons behind choosing the Martin MACs, “They work first time and they still worked after 16 hours!” He also wanted to mention Steve Abbiss and the Board Ops in all the venues who also managed to keep going for 16 hours.
