Martin Professional and RG Design light up C2 and Mojo’s in Westport, Ireland.

One of the largest hospitality complexes in the West of Ireland, the Plaza Hotel hosts two new venues, C2 and Mojo’s. Owned by Hoteliers Ann and Joe Corcoran, the multi-million euro hotel project has been in progress since 2004, when the pair applied to Westport County Council for permission to unite the Plaza with their existing Castlecourt Hotel on Castlebar Street.

The project has now finally been completed, with the twin venue nightclub, comprising C2 and Mojo’s, the final crowning glory of the huge architectural endeavour. Created by O’Donnell O’Neill, the two venues can be run as separate entities or combined as a 1,600 capacity club during peak times. The lower dance hall in C2 provides a large sunken dance floor around which customers are directed between two bars, guided by floor lighting and a series of brightly lit art fixtures running around the wall.

The first floor of Mojo’s provides an intimate ambience complete with fixed leather sofas, lower sound level pressures and a further two bars for chilled out drinking. Under the ownership of the Corcoran’s, the venue provides a focal point for Westport’s social scene, which is fuelled by the flow of tourists, whose numbers swell to breaking point during the hectic summer months.

RG Design ramped up the excitement with a comprehensive Martin Professional lighting solution. In C2 the lighting consists of eight Martin MAC 250 Krypton moving heads, joined by six Martin Wizards, MX-10 scanners, Atomic Strobes and Jem 24/7 Hazers. Mojo’s has an exciting blend of Six Martin MX-10 Scanners, six Martin Wizards, an Atomic Strobe and Jem 24/7 Hazer machine.

The result is a powerhouse venue that benefits the high ambitions of both the Corcoran’s and the talents of the pedigree contractors.
