Maxedia, Maxxyz for Mad Music

Hamburg-based PROCON Event Engineering has again completed a successful show with the Martin Maxxyz lighting console and Maxedia digital media server. This time the lighting and media control duo was utilized for the Mad Video Music Awards which took place June 25th in Athens, Greece.

Mad Music is the most popular music channel in Greece. Produced as an open-air event, national and international acts like Reamon, Sunrise Avenue, Tamta, Remus and Nino performed on a large stage amidst impressive surroundings. Three super techno cranes and about 18 cameras where used to film the spectacle.

Although the weather was extremely warm (up to 45 degrees Celcius and more), PROCON was able to run all media technology without any problems or interference.

The set was designed by Elias Ledakis, known for his spectacular stage design for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. The setup included the new transparent MITRIX424 screens and two plasma walls fed with media content from three Martin Maxedias and controlled by a Maxxyz console.

“We chose the Maxedia because of the simultaneous playback on all screens - the viewer had the impression of one big movie on the whole stage. The good thing is that this works without synchronizing all machines,” said Jan Schröder, Project Manager at PROCON.

"I could not touch the Maxxyz desk because of the heat, but everything ran well and very stable – that was an acid test for our whole hardware", Jan said. “The client commented that this show was ‘a one-hundred-percent-step ahead.’”

This was PROCON’s debut on a Mad Video Music Award show. Lighting design was by Manfred "Ollie" Olma.
