Milano's La Stazione a Treasure of the Past
September 26, 2002
Images projected onto walls, multi-colored effects, flashes of light that, together with hazy smoke, create the impression of an arriving train. A train station of the future? No, a treasure of the past.
Poised above an old rail line in Milan and totally refurbished in a high-tech style, La Stazione was just a small bar for travelers in the 1930s. Today it has become a fashionable dance rendezvous as the mild mannered venue transforms into the after hours place to be.
Like a train station, La Stazione is a meeting place where people gather at all times of the day. Breakfast at the bar, a lunch-time snack, happy hour, an elegant dinner and finally dancing. Open from early morning until... well… early morning, La Stazione livens up once the sun goes down thanks to the energy from a Martin lighting package.
Unable to make changes to the building’s façade due to its historical nature, the decision was made to include eye-catching indoor lighting that could be seen by passersby. MiniMAC Wash and Profile moving heads work alongside Atomic strobes and RoboColor Pro 400s to provide a unique after hours dance atmosphere, adding a new dimension to the venue. “The collaboration with Martin Professional enabled us to give an entirely original feel to La Stazione,” commented Dario Sangalli of Sangalli Tecnologie, specialists in entertainment equipment and installer of the La Stazione lighting system.
