Rocky Horror gets a fresh new look

MAC 500’s and MAC 600’s were used to help transform the Star City Showroom in Sydney. Lighting Director David Murray explains why he used these versatile lights.
"Because we already had a number of scans it was decided just to augment them to do the rest of the moving light rig" David said.
"It just made it easier form a control point of view. I did a Vari*lite and MAC rig for quotation but eventually it went to Chameleon. The MAC 500 is quite a flexible lamp so I wasn’t too unhappy about that."
The Martin Lighting Director was also to be used although time restraints put a standstill to these plans.
"I would have loved to use it - we did have it up and running and I did actually plot it in," David said.
David also explained that he believed the showroom would have made an ideal venue to use the Martin product.
"I used Wybron Auto-pilot on Red, Hot & Rhonda at the Crown Casino and that was problematic mainly because the stage was so wide and low preventing us from getting good positions. I think it’s certainly a technology worth pursuing but it does require time."
