TDC Total Take Off 2004
December 15, 2004
Danish rental house Nordic was chosen as technical supplier, along with Welcome Event Marketing, to design and develop the annual company celebration of TDC (Tele Danmark Corp), Denmark’s leading telecommunications company.
The event took place at Odense Airport and was designed, planned and carried out by Welcome and Nordic. Nordic handled planning of the stage/event area, main tower, tents, lounges and the impressive airplane rudder, which was designed by Claus Hansen.
The set-up was massive and included an amazing 100,000 kg of ballast, mobile crane with specially made steel wires, and a special ISC roof covering 800m2 of dance floor. The overall tent size covered 6900m2. Three bands performed (All Star band, D.A.D, Safri Duo) with three stage set-ups designed beforehand. The overall lighting system consisted of approximately 150 moving heads and 160 dimmers spread out among six locations at the airport. Martin gear included MAC 500 E, MAC 600 E, MAC 2000 moving heads and Atomic strobes along with 2 Jem Glaciators and 1 Jem Glaciator X-Stream low lying fog effects.
In order to avoid long cable runs between the controller and the rigs, Martin Wireless DMX 512 systems were used to distribute DMX both in the large tent and for the outdoor illumination (par cans/dimmers). Approximately 50 moving lights and all the outdoor lights were controlled using wireless technology with a maximum distance of 200 meters. The system reportedly worked as with normal DMX cable - trustworthy and reliable.
CEO of Nordic Rentals, Torben Pedersen, stated the following regarding the Martin Wireless devices, “The Martin wireless system – WDMX 512 and WDMX Pro Diversity are very reliable and steady working systems. They are easy to operate and the visual feedback is very good. We have used the system under difficult conditions – cold and wet environments and the systems have never broken down. The maximum systems in usage were 20 on the same universe under a large corporate event and we didn’t have any problems. My confidence in the system is growing every day.”
The Martin Wireless DMX-512 and Wireless DMX-512 Pro Diversity are the easiest way to connect remote fixtures to a DMX system within line of sight. Both devices offer a fast and easy way of connecting and setting up a lighting system, especially a system with remote fixtures or hard to get at fixtures, as no cables and expensive downtime is required.
